The Zonta Club of Kitchener Waterloo works in many ways to advance the status of women worldwide.  As such they have long been a supporter of the work we do at Women’s Crisis Services.  Among other initiatives, they host events, with speakers who inform us of different situations faced by women all over the world, challenge us to find a way to help, and encourage us to explore our own thoughts and lives.  This year’s Zonta film festival offers 3 films – “Saving Face” (an exploration of the strength and bravery of survivors of acid attacks), “Arise” (a sharing of a profound understanding of what it takes to live in harmony with the environment through the arts)  and “The Price of Sex” (a documentary which sheds light on the underground criminal network of human trafficking).  The Festival runs November 13th to 15th at the Princess Twin Cinemas.  Schedule and tickets can be found at www.kwzontafilmfestival.com.  I encourage you to attend at least one of these evenings – I believe it will be an inspiring experience, as their events have been for me in the past.
