What About the Kids?

The holiday season can be a difficult time for those who are living with violence and abuse.

While many families are enjoying the holiday season, thers are many women and their children who are isolated and scared; wishing and hoping the abuse would end.

Can you imagine dreading the New Year, knowing that it will probably be just like last year?

Many women with children choose to stay in an abusive relationship over the holiday season, attempting to provide a “normal” holiday season for their children. They worry, about leaving the children’s presents, Christmas tree, and extended family behind, while seeking safety of a women’s emergency shelter; Anselma House or Haven House.

At Women’s Crisis Services, we strive to provide a holiday experience for all of the people we serve, while keeping them safe. Providing a safe, happy and healthy environment for the children in shelter, and providing the much needed support to the women. We are so fortunate to have received gifts, toys, clothes, warm mittens, quilts, and books to wrap up and put under our tree and in our stockings.

It is only through the generosity of the community that we are able to offer a full range of support services to those in need.

Your finacial support provides women and children with the tools and opportunities they need to live violence free. This holiday season we ask that you consider making a financial contribution to Women’s Crisis Services. Instead of purchasing toys or gifts, donate the funds you would have spent, and receive a tax receipt for your generosity. Financial support is vital to our programming and to ensure we can continue to serve over 200 children and over 260 women who are moving beyond violence.

For over 35 years, Women’s Crisis Services has provided that safe refuge. Your support provides hope for a future free of abuse.
