Sheila Spohn, President of the India Canada Association of Waterloo Region is joined by members of her group as they present a cheque to Mary Zilney for the proceeds from their special Musical event in support of women and their children fleeing violence and abuse in Waterloo Region.

On May  11, 2013, the India Canada Association of Waterloo Region welcomed friends, supporters and community members to an enchanting musical event called ” YAADON KI SHAAM, AAPKE NAAM”.

This highly anticipated event was a musical program that brought together local artists and regional performers not only to promote culture and unity, but for a good cause; to raise money for Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region. This donation from the India Canada Association is important to WCSWR and to the people we serve.

Recognizing that abuse affects us all, it is a wonderful example for other cultural groups and social events that want to make a difference and support the community and region.

Hours of work and dedication made this event a success and not only did they donate proceeds from the event, but several members of the community made personal donations to Women’s Crisis Services.

We want to thank Sheila, Chandrika, Koki and all of the volunteers, friends and supporters for being our partner and helping women and their children in Waterloo Region move beyond violence and abuse.
