Teachers of Waterloo Region present a cheque to help Rebuild Haven House.

Teachers of the Waterloo Region are very valuable partners in the work we do every day to help women and children move beyond violence. Their interactions with children and support of the transition into and out of shelter can make an incredible impact at a very vulnerable time in their life.

It is our goal to keep children in their home school when they are in shelter, but sometimes that isn’t possible. Teachers provide a constant source of support, encouragement, routine and recognition. It is this reliability and leadership that make them such great partners in a community free of violence.

This week they supported their everyday actions by making a donation of $1,000 to help us with our campaign to Rebuild Haven House, the shelter for abused women and their children located in Cambridge.

Thank you for this philanthropic expression of our shared mission to help our community move beyond violence.
