Residential Program

This program is for women who are presently experiencing abuse and require safety for themselves and their children. Our free services include:
  • Emergency, 24-hour safe shelter (including meals and basic personal items) for abused women, with or without children.
  • 24-hour crisis line to provide confidential support, information about and referrals to various community services and government agencies for legal, housing, financial concerns.
  • Housing support program.
  • Children's programs to address the effects of children exposed to domestic violence.
  • Individual and / or group support sessions for women who have been or are presently in an abusive relationship.
  • Safe Steps - Steps towards a brighter future. Groups for children who have been exposed to abuse, and their Moms.
  • Public education presentations for schools, community and service groups, churches, and employee groups.
  • Interpreters available.

Child/Youth Program

Children and youth who live in homes where they are exposed to violence often blame themselves for the abuse. Living in an abusive home seriously impacts children and youth. Abuse is a learned behaviour. This program provides:
  • Assistance for children and youth to unlearn abusing behaviour.
  • Individual support sessions (with or without mom)
  • Support and educational groups
  • Recreation
  • Safety planning
  • Advocacy with community services
  • Information, resources, referrals and options.
Mom and Children's Group

"Safe Steps" is a 10 week group which runs three times a year. The groups for moms and children are run at the same time and focus on the same topics. Goals of the group are to interrupt the cycle of violence;
  • To help children heal from the trauma of witnessing/being exposed to family violence
  • To provide a safe environment in which children can process their thoughts and feelings
  • To enable the children to learn new ways of behaving
This group is for women and children who are not currently in crisis and are currently residing apart from the abusive partner. To find out more about this group please call (519) 653-2289 or (519) 741-9184s

Outreach Program

This program assist women who are currently in or have recently left abusive relationships: Our free services include:
  • Safety planning
  • Goal setting
  • Ongoing support and advocacy
  • Information about and referrals to: community services (housing, legal, financial, health, immigration, children's services, education, and employment)
  • Interpreter services as required
  • Possible accompaniment to Family Court
