The program builds upon foundational parenting skills and existing strengths while addressing the impact that intergenerational trauma can have on the current mother-child relationship.

This One Act demonstrates how community agencies have come together to help women and children, who have been impacted by domestic violence, strengthen their relationships and move beyond violence to a place of hope, change and connection.

In a safe and supported group environment, women will have opportunity to process how their own experiences shaped their relationships with their children.  They will develop a better understanding of their children’s behaviour and emotional needs.

They will also learn about how they can help their children cope differently with big feelings.  A unique component to this program is that mid-way through the group process; mothers and children come together, with the support of skilled group facilitators, to practice creating trusting, loving connections.  We were all excited to pilot and research this program in March of 2016 at Anselma House.!
