It was a bright and sunny Friday September day when Aecon brought over 180 of their closest friends together for a great day of golf at Ariss Valley Golf Course.

Not only was it a day of sport and friendship, but also a day of charity and support for our community. Friends and golfers were very generous raising over $30,000 for three causes that are near and dear to the hearts of their employees.

Women’s Crisis Services is very proud to have been selected as one of those charities.

Aecon invited us to a celebration lunch on site where employees gathered to celebrate their donations. They even donated chips, refreshments and buns back to Haven House after the lunch!

Larry Brokenshire, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, presented a donation of $10,640 to support the Rebuild Haven House project in Cambridge. Our Cambridge shelter that was originally built to serve 11 people often serves 30-33. The cramped conditions and lack of space are not the environment needed to help women and children move beyond abuse. Aecon’s investment in our new shelter helps us to ensure that women and children in Cambridge get what they deserve….a new Haven House.

We thank the employees from the top to the bottom of our hearts, the ones who organized, recruited, volunteered and played that day. We thank all of the sponsors and supporters. This investment back into the community impacts generations to come.

Thank you Aecon, for being our partner in moving beyond violence.
